The Notholt/SODAM Charity Trophy

We hope you will be a regular visitor to this newly created site.

SODAM is a social rugby union club that plays in the Middlesex Merit League, division five.  The name SODAM is an acronym that came from the amalgamation of the Science Museum and Overseas Development Administration rugby union sides and is now the home side the for the London Postal Services. Being a social side drawn from all over London and further afield we do not train as a team but our close association with Northolt RFC and West London RFC means training is available for those keen enough to join in on a Tuesday at Northolt RFC (Cayton Park) or Wednesday at West London RFC (Birbeck College) and SODAM will start training should there be enough players demanding it.

Our home base is at the London Post Office Sports and Social Association clubhouse in Sudbury Hill (Harrow) behind the Rising Sun PH.

We are always looking for new players of all standards so if your interested in playing for SODAM please contact our Club Captain Ian via email
here.  There are no annual subs and match day fees are just £5 and only £3 for students.

SODAM "25th Birthday Tour"

For the first time ever, SODAM are embarking on an end of season tour, the cost of the tour will be in the region of £250 but may be a little more depending on the size of our tour party. We will be travelling to Malta on Friday 7th May 2010 arriving back in the UK on Monday 10th May 2010, there will be plenty of free time to soak up the sun and some time for beers and of course not forgetting some fun filled social rugby! oh yes and did I mention the BEER. Our tour organiser is Pete Nolan, can you please let him know asap if you intend coming and then please commit by paying the deposit which has now been increased to £150 to Ian Wells. To keep costs down we propose to start fund raising activities very soon. Non players are also welcome to tour.

25th Aniversary Celebration Match & Presentation Evening 10 April 2010

To celebrate our 25th season as either ODA/SODAM there will be a match between the SODAM Old Boys captained by Ian Wells and the current SODAM team captained by Chris Moore. The Old Boys side will be made up from players no longer playing regularly, those who have moved away or to other teams, a few of the more senior SODAM players and will be bolstered by a few of the Imperial College players who have moved on to play for the new IC team. After the match and a few drinks there will be live music and a presentation evening for the seasons Player of the Season, Top Try Scorer etc etc. We want as many players and supporters there as possible for what will be a great funday.

Playing News

On the playing front - some of the team and some new players played in a mid week TOUCH RUGBY tournament in Old Deer Park Richmond during the Summer. Also on Saturday 16th May SODAM travelled to Greenwich RFC for a 7's tournament. The good news for SODAM it was a social 7's which meant everyone was willing to pitch in for whoever and whenever needed. SODAM would like to extend a big thank you to their debutants who helped us through to the bowl final against London Japanese, who I hasten to add  had just played in the final of the plate having brought enough players to have played the tournament on their own, the reason    they had played two finals is that the 6th team that entered ran out of players.

PLAYING SHIRTS AND T-SHIRTS

Team T-Shirts Are Now available from Chris Moores at a cost of £13 each or for an additional £2 you can have your name embroidered on the right breast. Orders are being taken now. Ian and I feel if SODAM are going to go forward we should all be wearing them on matchdays. Orders can also be placed for SODAM fleeces. Please contact Chris Moores either by e-mail or phone to place an order for either or both.
